When Crysis first came out on the PC, it was notorious for its stunning graphics, beautiful environments and dynamic gameplay. Not only that, but in order to play the game at the top end of the gaming spectrum you needed a decent piece of hardware that would easily cost you the equivalent of 3/4 current generation consoles. I must admit, I dished out a fair amount on hardware to play the Crysis games.
Crytek previewed a version of the CryEngine 3 running on the Xbox 360 at a Game Developers' Conference during Gamescom.
The company has since optimised the engine since then and they now have it running on Xbox 360 nicely. It's this engine that will power Crysis 2 when it eventually arrives on Xbox 360. Although Crytek haven't given any details as to when this is likely to be. But impressions were made that they were likely to be porting Crysis over first before releasing Crysis 2 on any consoles. So thats a nice little in site into what First Person Shooters we can be expecting in 2010. The game was absolutely stunning and amazing to play when run at top spec and I can only imagine a ported version to be just as fun.
Watch this space as we find out more.
