Live from Golden Joystick Awards 2010

8.30: Sparky arrives at Victoria in punctual fashion to meet Geoneo

8.50: Sparky takes a quick stroll into the local HMV and Game stores (which saw witness to a bust up last night over an early purchase of Fable 3 by a member of public) to see what's on offer this Friday. No doubt you're all aware by now that today sees the release of Fable 3, Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Rock Band 3 as well as the lesser important Shaun White Skateboarding and Tony Hawks Shred

9.00: Sparky still awaiting to hear from Geoneo

9.05: Geoneo finally arrives after being stuck at a red light on the train coming into Victoria

9.10: Both jump on the train to Westminster followed by a brisk walk over Westminster bridge to the Park Plaza hotel where the Golden Joysticks Award is being held this year.

9.30: Arrived at the hotel and guided through to the Digital Media Room where media alike are all located

10.00: Witness Mike Channell of OXM having a play about on Super Street Fighter II HD Remix after struggling to find the "on" button for the Samsung LED TV. Mind you this was on the PS3!

10.11: Just having a read through the media briefing and schedule for the day which has been updated. In good news! We will get to see an exclusive new video trailer of the highly anticipated Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the third game in the action /role playing game series Deus Ex. This should be around 13:00

10.31: Just got some hands on time with a custom Xbox 360 S specially for the Golden Joystick Awards. Custom made by Aliens Stole My Console

10.50: A few technical issues with the consoles and tv slow things down

10.51: Accreditation has just begun! Panel consists of:
James Binns, John Houlihan, Neil Long, Jon Hicks and Tim Clark

10.57: Treble Tee of Radio 1 Xtra takes host of the debating

11.30 Good debate ends. Transcript to be written up later! Lots of discussion about the current gaming market and industry, the perception of game/gamers in the mainstream media, the future of current generation consoles and debate about what is perceived as a hardcore gamer.

11.41: Aliens Stole My Console do some coverage on their new customisation of consoles. Full write up to come separately and on our Facebook page

11.52:Things running a bit delayed. Def Jam Rapstar is now going to be demoed by Saj Ismael & Kat Osman of Lunchpr.com
Game due to released on 26th November

12.10: Small break now until Deus Ex footage

13:10: Back from a quick (to say the least) lunch at McDonalds. Return to the Media room to some interactive footage of Deus Ex which has some commentary overlaid the video footage. In a word, the game looks pretty epic! Game due early next year.
We did actually find out that the footage was not an new exclusive video, but the same E3 video from earlier in the year.

13:36: Just been given notice about heading down to the awards ceremony.

Apologies for the delay in an update. Just got absorbed into the atmosphere of the event

14.15: Made our way down to the basement floor of the Park Plaza Hotel where the awards were going to actually take place. This was after a lengthier wait than expected.

14.25: Rich Hill introduced to the audience by a familiar voice: The Voice of the Balls, Alan Dedicoat.

14.30: Rich hill performs stand up for the audience for about 20 minutes. He was quality. See our youtube channel for the footage (currently uploading @ 22.27)

15:00: Formal Golden Joystick Awards 2010 Ceremony is introduced via a neat CGI feature (Again this can be see on our youtube channel)

15:05 - 16:00: All awards are announced, and guests and media are directed to the shows after party.

Check out Geoneo's write up on the award winners and runners up. We had fun predicting the outcomes. Don't think we did too bad in the end, but we'll post our predictions up separately.

The after party was somewhat very difficult to network as no-one had/ were required to wear name badges, so it was difficult to approach any people in particular, however we did get speaking with the brothers of Aliens Stole My Console: Rob and James Austin who did a little piece during the bloggers morning event. They had a number of beautiful custom designed consoles. Ranging from Pink, Orange, Yellow, White and Gold on display.

All in all, very nice chaps with a very intelligent idea in their console personal design customisation.

See our write up on them and the company shortly.

After a short while, we headed off at a decent hour. Here's looking forward to next year! Black Ops for Ultimate Game of the Year anyone! :D

Shout out to the Boom Dialogue team who invited us to the event. Thanks for a great day!
