Crytek MD talks TimeSplitters 4?

In a post that went up on Eurogamer early this morning it was revealed that Crytek UK are on the lookout for a publisher to work with in the releasing of a new TimeSplitters title.

Crytek UK were known to us all as Free Radical Design, who closed its doors just before Christmas in 2008 to be brought by the German games developer a few months later in 2009. It then became the company as its today.

The developer is open to discussing an original IP with publishers and in a statement to Eurogamer at the GameCity festival in Nottingham managing director Karl Hilton said We're talking to publishers at the moment about whether that's [TimeSplitters] a viable route or not".

There hasn't been a TimeSplitters game for quite a while. Obviously TimeSplitters is a FPS with a strong multiplayer element. The question is, is that the way to go with another one, or should it go down a different route, or should we be developing a new IP altogether?”

Although in the interview with Karl he didn’t seem positive but hinted that there is interest from the major publishers in releasing a new TimeSplitters game.
"Talking to publishers, everyone is aware of TimeSplitters. It's got a brand awareness that's really good. Its success in different markets was quite variable. So depending on who you talk to, they either look at it as a really successful product or as a product that was almost successful but could have done better."

I have been calling out for a new TimeSlitters game for years but is it possible that gamers would come over to a newer version of the game instead of playing the usual FPS mammoths such has Halo and CoD? What do you think?
