Kinect on target?

In the first 10 days since Microsoft entered into the world of interactive gaming using its new peripheral, Kinect. All seems well after a million units sold worldwide.
Before Kinect was released Microsoft Interactive Entertainment president Don Mattrick set the target to shifting 5 million units before the end of the year, but are they going to reach it?

More recently in an interview with a reporter from the Reuters news agency Don Mattrick mentioned "It's a strong start. Consumers are loving it." Hinting that at the Xbox HQ confidence is high.

So what could spoil the New Year’s celebrations? Well, it was recently announced the cost of making a Kinect unit was $59 which in some people’s eyes could damage its image with a price tag in the PAL territories of £129/€150.

Launching a new product so close to Christmas increases it demand we seen it with the Nintendo Wii and its Wii Fit balance board but it’s been claimed by Microsoft its well equipped to handle the demand and has promised units will be available to meet demand.

So only time will tell! Sparky is already sold on the idea and posted some videos of us using Kinect on our YouTube page.

I am still going to hold out and see what is unveiled by Microsoft at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on the 11th of Dec 11, expect big news. Rumours are already starting about a gears of war type game that will use Kinect so watch this space!
