The last couple of days were spent watching others play/ replaying some of the games we enjoyed which included Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (mainly myself anyway), Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, Kinect Dance Central, Def Jam Rapstar, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Gears of War 3.
There was always one game for me at Eurogamer Expo that I was looking forward to the most, and that was "Brink". After a near 2 hour wait (and may I say, just about worth the 10-15 minutes we got on it)we got on our hands on the much anticipated Brink (due early 2011)
I've not got much to say in terms of words to describe my experience with the game, because it was just that good, but you can catch a demo video of how the game plays on our youtube channel
I look forward very much to Brink being in its final version, after which time I will give a detailed review, but from what I've seen/ played so far, it is looking almightly impressive.
Gears of War 3 also impressed with reverse horde mode on show i.e playing as the locust killing humans. Yes, you can even be a Ticker which was cool. Though there isn't much to advise in terms of changes as this was the only part of the game that was available, but given the release date is now being pushed to Autumn 2011 and how well the game was already looking, I can assume that GOW3 will be an absolutely stunning game.
There were also 2 action/ adventure games on show in the form of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Castlevania: Lord of Shadows (both demos of which are currently available on XBLA) which were a breath of fresh air given the constant barage of FPS games lately.
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West brings about some top visual graphics with constant action and very little in the way of any slow down given how much goes on in certain scenes. You'll know what I mean playing through the first part of the game.
The control system/s were very easy to use once run through the basic in game tutorials and certain aspects of them reminded my of ICO on the PS2 in the way that you give commands/ shout at your partner to do certain things.
An unusual quality to the game was its soundtrack and voice acting, both of which are often very poor or lacking in many games today. A lot of effort went into making the characters believable which I feel will only make the game more immersive to play.
Game is due out Friday 8th October. Expect a full review
Given the short time on Castlevania, from what I can make out in the initial opening level, the graphics had taken a leaf out of PES2011 book in the form of motion blur. It added a nice effect to the cinematics, those of which were entirely done from the in game graphics as opposed to CGI. This was also true in Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.
Once we get a bit more time on the demo/ game a more details report will be put up.
Game is also due out Friday 8th October.
